Want to create art? You have come to the right place!
The start of this online space has been a long time coming and I am super excited that it is finally up and running!
soulARTZ is the result of a lot of personal inner work and reflection – many beads of sweat and tears have been shed along the way – and now a time of new beginnings has arrived. I am so ready!
Let us BEGIN.
I recently signed up to do an online “read-along” of the book Inner Excavation by Liz Lamoreux.
The first chapter is all about this idea of beginning (this is where I got the prompt to write this poem) and something Liz says here has really resonated with me: that life is just a series of beginnings.
If you think about it, we are constantly beginning over and over again: we start one thing, then we start another thing and then yet another.
Does this sound familiar?
When one door closes, when one thing finishes, we are prompted to begin again –afresh.
We may get bored and frustrated, or we may get completely distracted by all the wonderful and amazing things that you want to do and learn and read and draw, that we struggle completing just ONE of those!
A new direction perhaps?
We may decide to pick up a new hobby, change our career path or…we may yearn to create art!
It is likely that we all have many different dreams, ambitions and goals in life, but which one to choose and to commit to? Do we have to choose just one? (These people can be termed a Renaissance Soul or Scanner and my friend Jen is a pretty good example!)
Yet, this message reminded me of the importance of just bloody beginning! I am such a talented procrastinator, especially when it comes to putting my dreams into action. I let fear hold me back from what I want most.
Let us fear no longer and create art instead!
Letting go of fear is a huge topic that I will be addressing on this blog time and time again.
Fear stops our creative juice dead in its tracks: we cannot live the creative life we imagine for ourselves if we are filled with worry.
For someone who has lived their entire life quaking in their boots, learning to let go of my worries and anxieties has been and will continue to be a great challenge. And it is worth recognizing that letting go of our fears is a continual process – it will not happen overnight, nor will we ever be free of fear.
In fact, when we start addressing what turns us into bodies of wobbling jelly, we can realise that our fears hold the greatest gifts.
Challenging our fears can never be wrong and the result will always be extraordinary.
So what can you expect from soulARTZ?
I envision this space as a starting point for us to start an open and free-flowing dialogue with the most important person in our lives: ourselves. We all have desires and ambitions for the direction of our lives. We all want to feel successful; we all want to achieve the life we imagine for ourselves and be the best person we can be.
Yet we often let this thing called fear get in the way. Fear stops us from pursuing the most important piece of artwork in existence – our creative life.
The only way for us to really grow into our best self (and live that life we dream of!) is to know ourselves inside out and back-to-front: our values, our motivations, our inspirations, our strengths and our weaknesses. We must lay it all out on the table and be completely honest with where we are at right now. Only then, will we be able to move forward into a better future. Give yourself permission to unlock the door and try something new.
Whatever your circumstances may be – you may suffer from depression, anxiety, deep-rooted self-esteem issues OR you may just be stuck in a rut and struggling to find a new direction – I want you to know that you can manifest your dreams and make them a reality. You can create the life you have always imagined and fantasized about.
And that is where soulARTZ comes in!
I have discovered a way through the blinding fog of life and that is to create art.
It is a simple formula: soul (the life-force that exists within you) + artz (creative techniques and activities to help you discover and explore more about your own being) = soulARTZ!
At the moment, the blog is akin to a blank canvas. It is prepped and ready to go with an awesome design and structure (great thanks to Squeesome Designs!) and now all that is needed is to splatter this canvas with paints of exploration and discovery.
Over the next few weeks and months, I will be focusing on building the content and resources within this space with one intention in mind: to help you manifest the dreams that your soul desires.
I hope that you will join the soulARTZ community and I look forward to connecting with you in the near future.
